What Is Run 4 Shelter?
Join Fairview in our fight to end homelessness in Gwinnett by participating in our 5k walk and run. All proceeds benefit Home Sweet Home Gwinnett, a homeless housing program created by the Lawrenceville Salvation Army. DUE TO COVID-19 GUIDELINES, 2020’S RUN WILL BE A VIRTUAL EVENT – RACE IN PLACE FROM OCTOBER 14 TO NOVEMBER 14. OUR GOAL IS $20,000!
The Salvation Army focuses on families with children who presently comprise 41 percent of the homeless population. The average age of a homeless person in Georgia is only nine years old! Recognizing that this crisis has quickly spread beyond the traditional boundaries of the city, The Salvation Army has created Home Sweet Home Gwinnett, to stand in the gap and provide emergency housing for our neighbors in need. Home Sweet Home Gwinnett is currently the only rapid re-housing program in Gwinnett County to stabilize families in crisis by providing furnished apartments, thereby reducing the stigma of homelessness. The program includes comprehensive case management which strives to break the cycle of poverty by addressing its root causes and combating them with education, counseling and personal accountability based on a strong Christian foundation. Everyone in our county deserves shelter. Just imagine what we can do if we come together in this endeavor.
Please visit our web site:Run for Shelter where you can find it all, and register on line for Run For Shelter 2020!. Tell your friends, neighbors, co-workers about our race that helps provide shelter for homeless families in Gwinnett.
More helping hands are much appreciated and needed to make Run for Shelter another success.
We are doing this for all the faces in God’s Kingdom so they may have shelter and a chance to achieve self worth.
